John Walton's book The Lost World of Genesis One has for many readers opened their eyes both to the ancient Near Eastern world in which the authors and audience of the creation narrative lived, and the need to avoid misunderstanding the texts by reading them as a 'how-to" manual on how to make a universe, an approach that leads to the gross theological and scientific error of YEC.
